Canada IPhone Backlash

So many Canadians have been telling me they are now not going to get an IPhone even though they’ve been waiting all year to line up.

This is really a shame, since my feeling is that most people won’t use much 3G data once the initial excitement wears off and they enter their typical daily user pattern. In other words, unlimited data probably wouldn’t be a big deal for Rogers and would be more than offset by the thousands of happy fans who would push their friends and neighbors to get one.

Fifty cents a megabyte once you go over your limit. Jeez.

I think you’re wrong re. excitement wearing off. When people get used to the practicalities of being always online, it will have the opposite effect.

Aestheticbliss, you could be right. Especially with the new apps that are coming.

In any case, even if every user consumed a few gigs a month, Rogers would be able to absorb this (tiny) capacity cost since these would be heavy users of the IPhone and likely using lots of minutes as well.

If nothing else, heavy users become heavy promoters of the device.
