The verdict:

“Time Machine passed the “Trust, but Verify” challenge with flying colors. I’m pretty happy about that as it means that I can recommend that my friends and family—including my Dad who just bought an iMac not too long ago—can use Time Machine as a totally automatic backup mechanism.”

Yep, it’s a fantastic feature which I needed to use last night, in fact as usual the cause of needing it was down to good old microsoft as I’d tried and failed to put windows XP on my iMac 24″ using bootcamp.

Time machine brilliantly came to the rescue and put everything back to the way it was in a couple of hours I was up and running with all the programs I had been using previously, e-mail restored and Photo Libraries back in place.
