When I saw the Top Twitterers list I was curious to see that the Barack Obama people were active Twitterers. So I clicked the ‘Follow‘ button and a moment later this showed up in my email.
I can just imagine Barack with Twitterific popping up on his laptop every 2 seconds….

Living much to close to an Apple store, I was unable to resist the siren call of the new Ipod Touch. I had every mental argument possible as to why I didn’t need one and shouldn’t buy one.
But I got one anyways.
And the thing I thought I wanted it for (surfing via WiFi) turned [...]
Matt Gemmell comes up with a solution for the shortcomings of tracking rectangles in NSViews:
Tracking areas are like tracking rectangles but are more robust and effective, and can be configured to track the mouse either at all times, only when the view’s app is active, only when the view’s window is key, or only when [...]
Tonight I had a chance to see Joel Spolsky present his demo of Fogbugz 6.0.
As you might expect, Joel is funny and provocative; he talks the way he writes. It’s worth it to see this presentation, if you get the chance, if only to hear him talk about Garfield.

Manton Reece observes that Rails developers, on the whole, take more joy in how their code is made than in what they made:
For Mac developers, not just the Delicious Generation but old school Mac developers as well, it’s the latter: the art is how the final product looks and behaves — being inspired to build [...]
Paul Stamatiou puts words to something that has been bugging me too: Using the private messaging system on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, et al is stupid, and unsustainable:
Don’t worry about missing a message though, most services email you to tell you a message is waiting for you. But of course, most don’t want to kill their [...]

Shortly after releasing MoneyWell 1.0, the app was featured on the official Apple Downloads page and users from around the globe were clamoring for date and currency localizations.
Recently I had the [...]
One of the many nice touches in Gus Mueller’s Acorn is its built-in Feedback mechanism. Choose ‘Help…Report Bugs or Feature Requests’ and you get a little email ready to go. The mail is already pre-formatted with the classic bug-reporting best format (What I Did, What Happened, What I Expected to Happen):
I especially [...]
Cabel:
We subclassed everything and everything’s mother, and eventually came up with some crazy solutions that mostly worked well, but had two problems: the code was skanky (which, to be honest, didn’t bother me as much, since the user never sees skanky code, but I can empathize with that not-so-fresh feeling) Subscribe to my RSS feed!
Andy Matuschak has put together an amazing lesson plan for learning Cocoa.
It can seem like the keys to understanding Cocoa are scattered across the known universe, so this is invaluable. Andy’s article also encourages you to learn to love the Apple docs. Everything you need is in the docs - except when it [...]
